First 2023 Meeting of General Council Executive Coming Up
The 44th General Council Executive (GCE) will hold its first business meeting of 2023 on Feb. 10–11, 2023. The meeting will be conducted virtually.
Calling Executive members to do their work using the lenses of deep spirituality, bold discipleship, and daring justice, as the United Church Call states, the meeting is bookended by the communal experience of worship and reflection.
While a number of items are on the consent agenda, the meeting will focus specifically on strengthening the governance role of the GCE, particularly around decolonizing governance structures and building effective oversight of the work of the church. It will also approve the 2023 budget, as well as the remit material concerning the self-determination process of the Indigenous Church. Key reports from the Pension Board, United Property Resource Corporation (Kindred Works), and the Board of Vocation will also be discussed.
Materials for this meeting are available on the United Church Commons. Please navigate to Governance > General Council Executive > GC44 Executive. A summary of the outcomes of this meeting will be available on this website no later than Feb. 14.
The next quarterly meetings are scheduled for
