Introducing our newest GCE member . . .

An educator and an ordained minister who has served congregations in Venezuela and Canada, she is currently serving as program staff at the Centre for Christian Studies in Winnipeg, MB. Most recently, she served as Minister of Pastoral Care at Parkdale United in Ottawa, ON.

“I have grown theologically and as a disciple within and with the church, learning and unlearning together, challenging my own boundaries and exploring new ways of being and doing in God's world,” she says.

Alcris responded to the call for nominations in the fall of 2023 when the Executive sought to broaden its diversity, including through the appointment of a racialized woman with governance expertise. She has also served the church as Racial Justice, Gender Justice and Sexual Minorities Coordinator for The United Church of Canada’s General Council Offices.

The General Council also confirmed the appointment of David Leyton-Brown for the remainder of the 6-year term.

The Nominations Committee is grateful to all who were willing to take on these important leadership roles.
